Bill Martin / Wednesday, April 10, 2019 / Categories: News Oxford to Upgrade Town Water System Oxford will embark on a major effort to replace its water distribution system this summer. Aging cast iron pipes have been failing with great regularity and the time has come to modernize. The project is estimated at nearly 200 thousand dollars and the town will seek funding for half from senior governments. Public Works will tackle Main Street this year to ensure the downtown core is secured. Duke and Waverley Streets will follow in year two and three. Work on the system will be conducted by the town’s water utility, a stand-alone entity that manages the system. As such, the modernization will not be paid through taxes but rather by the utility’s water users. A water rate review will be completed as part of the project. Add your comment below.
