Oxford Water Cleared to Drink Again
The boil water order has been lifted in the Town of Oxford. The Nova Scotia Department of Environment gave the all clear late this afternoon.
The boil water order was issued early Monday morning and continued through five days of uncertainty, after town officials recognized a water quality problem at its treatment facility.
The town’s public works staff quickly zeroed in on issues with the system’s chlorine injectors. They tweaked the chlorine levels and flushed the system each day hoping water tests would return to normal.
However, the daily test results did not pass the Nova Scotia Department of Environment which is the final authority in such matters.
Residents were required to boil all water before any human consumption.
Linda Cloney, the town’s Chief Administrative Officer, kept town council and the public informed with daily updates through email, local, and social media.
