Staff Reporter / Wednesday, April 18, 2018 / Categories: News PFD Has a Winner in Toonie Draw The Pugwash Fire Department has a winner this week in the community Toonie Draw. Number 445 was drawn tonight, giving Beatrice Mills a tidy $706 windfall. The 50/50 fundraiser averages over 300 dollars each week in prize money. However, number holders must enter a Toonie to be eligible for the prize, and last week that didn’t happen, leading to doubling of the prize tonight. The fire department has registered 750 players, but many are not playing on a weekly basis. Some think they are seasonal visitors who have been away for the winter. That may soon be verified as people return to open cottages and summer homes. Firefighters regard the fundraising program as a great success, providing money for much needed equipment and training supplies.
