Police Seize Guns Weed and More Guns
Cumberland District RCMP and Amherst Police Department were busy in the last week, searching two homes, resulting in the seizure of marihuana and firearms.
On August 18, police searched a home on Bayview Drive in Amherst. A quantity of marihuana, a sawed-off shotgun, and ammunition were seized. An adult woman and a male youth were arrested without incident.
Bobbi-Jo Lines, age 37, has been charged with the following offences:
• Unsafe storage of a firearm
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a firearm without being the holder of a license to possess a firearm
• Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
• Possession of cannabis marihuana
• Breach of Undertaking
Lines was released from custody later that day and is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September 25.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, police searched a home in Northport where a large number of marihuana plants, drug paraphernalia, a shotgun, and 10 handguns were seized. Fifty-two-year-old Daren Wayne McCormick was charged with the following offences:
• Production of Marihuana
• Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
• Unsafe Storage of a Firearm (x 8)
• Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (x 8)
• Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized (x 8)
• Possession of a firearm while prohibited (x 2)
McCormick has been remanded and is scheduled to return to Amherst Provincial Court on Monday.
