Premier Heads Council of National Leaders

Premier Tim Houston is now the chair of the Council of the Federation, the group of premiers and leaders from all the provinces and territories.

The Premier was named chair at last week’s gathering of the Council.

Houston said, “I am looking forward to advancing the issues that matter most to Nova Scotians over the next year.” He added, "I also look forward to welcoming my fellow premiers to the province this fall for a health summit.”

The group meets from time to time, often with the Prime Minister, to wrangle details of federal provincial programs and other issues of national and provincial interest.
