Provincial COVID Count Plunges to Single Digits
Nova Scotia Health reported no new cases of COVID-19 today. It marks the third straight day with zero cases.
More important, the province’s active case count dropped into single digits at eight, with only two patients in hospital.
Premier Iain Rankin says, “Another day with no new cases is wonderful news.” Rankin added, "Please do not become complacent. We've worked so hard to crush the third wave and get to a point where we are reporting no new cases, let's keep up the good work.”
Chief medical officer Dr. Robert Strang said, “If we'd like to continue this trend, we need to get vaccinated as soon as possible and follow all the public health measures.
There were 4,185 cases between March 15 and July 13, 2021. Two hundred and fifty-four people were hospitalized and twenty-six died.
Nearly 1.2 million doses of vaccine have been administered. Of those, 470,591 Nova Scotians have received their second dose.
One man who wants to remain anonymous—because he is a Maple Leaf fan—explained Nova Scotia’s low numbers saying, “It’s because of Dr. Strang’s shirt. Nobody wants to end up in hospital and suffer a chance meeting with him.”
