Provincial Parks Will Close for Storm
Nova Scotia's provincial and wildlife parks are closing ahead of possible severe weather from hurricane Lee.
Natural Resources Minister Tory Rushton says, “Safety is our priority as we prepare for storm conditions forecast for the weekend. We are closing our parks for the storm and will reopen when it is safe.”
Provincial parks will close on Friday, September 15. The camping parks will close at 1 pm while day use parks will follow at 7 pm.
The Shubenacadie Wildlife Park close Saturday, September 16, and staff will monitor the animals during the storm.
All parks will be evaluated for damage and safety concerns before they reopen.
Weather forecasts call for heavy rain, severe winds, and pounding surf on Saturday.
Park updates will be shared via the provincial parks website and social media.
