Staff Reporter / Tuesday, September 17, 2019 / Categories: News Public Meeting to Consider Pugwash Borrowing The Village of Pugwash will ask residents for permission to borrow 95 thousand dollars to cover final payments on the Harbourfront Centre in Eaton Park. The Village faces three important steps in the process. Residents will have a vote on the question at a public meeting. If approved, the village must ask the Municipality of Cumberland to guarantee the loan. And finally, the Minister of Municipal Affairs must give his departmental approval. The project started under the watch of the Municipality but the Village became involved at the latter stages, taking over the tendering process. The Federal Government and Village increased their commitment to the project prior to construction. A request for further funding is being considered at the county level. Add your comments below. Clearly, now that there is need for a loan, the project was over budget. So what is the final (total) cost? How much will taxes have to increase to afford this loan? 9/17/2019 2:22 PM Please login or register to post comments.
