Pugwash Bloomers Enhance Eaton Park
Pugwash Communities in Bloom (CiB) has completed phase two of its access enhancement project to the playground in Eaton Park.
The project installed a new boardwalk from the lower parking lot up to the playground. It is an access ramp for people with mobility issues — strollers, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs — allowing them to more easily travel deeper into the park to better interact with others using the facility.
The Chair of CiB says a wheelchair accessible picnic table will be installed on the new patio (shown in the photo with the built in benches) as better spring weather arrives. Maureen Leahey added that CiB will also add a planter containing edible plants.
Phase one, completed last summer, is a stone patio at the top of the park, overlooking the playground, on Water Street. It will also have a wheelchair accessible picnic table.
