Pugwash Considered for Three National Awards
Pugwash is a finalist in three national awards for “Outstanding Achievement” with Communities in Bloom (CiB).
Maureen Leahey, Chair of the Pugwash Chapter, calls it, “Wonderful news. A great recognition of Pugwash.”
The local organization submitted five award applications, as suggested by the national judges who visited the community earlier this summer, and today they learned that three applications are receiving the highest consideration.
The awards include “Environmental Action” for the efforts of the Friends of the Pugwash Estuary, “Community Involvement” which highlights the many community organizations in the village, and the “Community of Gardeners”, a reference to the school garden and the food bank garden.
The winners will be announced in mid September at the National Symposium in Ottawa.
Pugwash won the “Outstanding Achievement Award for Youth Involvement” in 2014 for the Peace Ground project.
