Pugwash Faces Community Challenge Judges
The judges are in Pugwash today, already at work judging the community for a major award in the annual Communities in Bloom competitions.
Two judges are touring the highlights of community life, not just the horticultural beauty, but also measuring the community pride as evidenced by the spirit of cooperation, volunteerism, respect for the environment, and regard for the cultural history of the area.
While the Bloomers, as they are nicknamed, are often regarded as those folks who promote flowers, the real purpose behind the CiB movement is to enhance community pride and foster the conditions for a thriving place to live, work, and play.
Pugwash is in a head-to-head competition with the Town of Kinistino, Saskatchewan in the 28th edition of the Class of Champions.
The judges, Lorna McIlroy of Alberta, and Linda Tomlinson of BC, both have horticultural backgrounds and have been judging in Canada and internationally for more than a decade.
