Pugwash Film Earns Director’s Award Nomination
A documentary film, made in Pugwash, has earned a nomination for “Best Director” honours at the Screen Nova Scotia Awards.
Andrea Vandenboer produced and directed “Climate Change and the Human Prospect” as part of the 2017 Pugwash Thinkers’ Conference. Click the attached video to view the trailer.
The documentary captured the essence of the crisis as presented by a panel of international thinkers. The photo below shows a number of the invited "Thinkers" taking a break in Eaton Park, including John Eaton the event host, seated on the right.
Filmed at Thinkers’ Lodge in Pugwash, it has many scenes from the village including a major assembly at the high school, and some captivating aerial drone photography.
The 40-minute film has screened to thousands of people in group settings throughout Canada and the U.S., with the next event set for Europe.
The Thinkers Lodge National Historic Site will play host to two mini conferences this summer, one specially organized to get the thoughts of youth, those of the generation who will inherit the crisis and hopefully find the ultimate solution.
The Screen Awards will be presented this Friday at a gala in Halifax.
