Pugwash Homecoming Cancelled for 2020

The Pugwash Harbourfest Homecoming is the latest public event to fall at the spread of the coronavirus.

The chair of the organizing committee announced the cancellation of the 15th annual celebration yesterday in a press release.

Louise Haycocks says cancellation was necessary because of “continued concerns surrounding the spread of Covid-19 in our communities and that larger social gatherings and festivals will not be permitted this summer.”

Harbourfest was coming off an outstanding success last year with large crowds, appreciative feedback, and a substantial commercial contribution to the community.

The committee has already completed much of the planning for this summer’s event and the news is a great let down.

In a phrase that is likely to become quite common this year, Haycocks closed her announcement by saying, “We look forward to seeing you all in 2021.”
