Pugwash Short One Village Commissioner
The Pugwash Village Commission was quite creative in its effort to secure a quorum for its recent meeting.
The village needs a minimum of three commissioners present or a meeting cannot transact any business. Given the commission is short one member, that means at least three out of four of the elected members must be present.
That became difficult this week when one commissioner was unavailable for personal reasons while another could not make it to the village hall.
The solution was a creative, jerry-rigged, video presence.
Sue Duncan joined the meeting through a computer connection with her face projected on a screen.
The sound was an issue from time to time but she was virtually there to secure the needed quorum.
Meanwhile…
Pugwash has set a date in July for another election.
The annual election in June failed to attract a candidate to fill the fifth position on the commission.
The second effort calls for a vote on July 23rd.
Nominations open June 29th and close July 13th.
