Regional Hospital Strained to the Max
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre is experiencing staff shortages, overcrowding in inpatient units, and high patient volumes this week. Patient waits in the hospital’s emergency department are long.
Nova Scotia Health is reminding patients of the services provided elsewhere in the county, specifically the Urgent Treatment Centre at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash, All Saints Springhill Hospital’s Collaborative Emergency Centre, and the Parrsboro Urgent Treatment Centre.
Virtual Care NS provides free, temporary access to primary medical care for people on the “Need a Family Practice Registry.” People on that registry can make a same-day virtual medical appointment.
For general health advice and information call 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.
Of course, 911 is always available in cases of emergency.
