Staff Reporter / Wednesday, August 19, 2020 / Categories: News Special Meeting to Consider Shinimicas Fire Needs The Shinimicas Fire Department (SFD) will have the exclusive attention of Cumberland County Council in a special meeting tonight. The session will deal with how to rebuild the fire department that lost everything to fire on April 23rd. Chief Jesse Brine and Deputy Chief Matt Mundle will layout their hopes and plans for a new firehall and equipment, all covered by insurance. Chief Brine has said the disaster has turned into opportunity as SFD considers an expanded facility to better meet the needs of the community. While the insurance claim offers just over $400 thousand to replace the hall, a larger building could cost up to $600 thousand. At their last meeting, county council asked for the special session to consider all the options presented by the firefighters. Add your comments below.
