As Canadians, you might think we would be used to snow, but this is, in fact, our first true storm of this winter. We went to bed with a forecast and woke up surrounded in white stuff. Winter storm warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. In this case, snowfall and high winds. That accounts for the rapid accumulation of snow. Driving conditions were treacherous through the night with road closures spread across the province. Drifting snow closed locations on several 100 series highways. The plows were out all night but driving conditions are still questionable. This morning is a good time to stay home and tend to your own snow.
