Survey: Did You Lose Anything in the Power Failure
The recent, unusual power outage that hit the area from Pugwash to Wallace was not just an inconvenience. The inconsistency of the power supply and its impact as power suddenly surged back to life took a toll in the community.
The nature of the outage taxed electrical appliances and in some cases caused damage. Sensitive devices, particularly digital products like, computers and the paraphernalia associated with our modern digital lives, are quite susceptible to variations in power.
For example, the Pugwash Coop lost almost all of its frozen foods. Their freezers and refrigeration units went down with the outage and did not return automatically when power was restored. The Coop was with power for six hours, and the freezers were off for at least nine.
