Effective today, Nova Scotians can travel trough the Cobequid Pass at no charge.

Premier Rankin was in Amherst yesterday for a rare visit to Cumberland County and the reception wasn’t exactly warm.

Premier Iain Rankin will Visit Cumberland this morning for a short election stop in Amherst.

The Cobequid Pass was blocked in both directions last evening, not for a freak snowstorm but for a storm of protest.

The MLA for Cumberland North told members of the Legislature today, “It's time for the McNeil Liberals to remove the tolls on the Cobequid Pass and stop putting Cumberland County residents and businesses at a disadvantage.”

Tolls will remain in place for the Cobequid Pass as the province uses the revenue for other projects.

The MLA for Cumberland North is carrying a few issues into the Nova Scotia Legislature today.

The two MLA’s representing Cumberland County are frustrated with the possibility that the McNeil Liberals may keep the tolls on the Cobequid Pass even after the project debt is paid.

This is a letter to all who are lobbying to have the speed limit increased through the community of Wentworth. You say the speed limit through my community should be increased because the road itself will handle it. You are right, the road would handle it, but the community would not.

Travellers through the Wentworth Valley may soon get from A to B faster than usual. The MLA for Cumberland North has asked transportation officials to review the artificial speed limits imposed to enhance traffic through the Cobequid Pass.

May Liberals and Tories rejoice. Tolls at the Cobequid Pass should come to an end sooner than expected.
