Temporary Good News for Pugwash Emergency Service
UPDATED SCHEDULE
In a surprise move today, the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA)announced the emergency department will be open tomorrow and Saturday at the Pugwash Hospital.
Originally scheduled to be closed both days, the authority announced the change this morning.
While welcome news, emergency services at the Pugwash Hospital continue to be the most often closed in all of Nova Scotia.
Local rules require a physician to be on hand to provide services during the day. With no doctor available, the service is shut down between 8 am and 8 pm.
The rules are relaxed for the night, allowing for coverage by the nearby paramedics, with a doctor available by phone.
The Pugwash facility is often closed six out of seven days, the worst record in the province. When the closures began, over a year ago, the NSHA called it “temporary”.
The REVISED schedule for the next week includes:
Saturday, March 2 OPEN
