Tim Houston is Officially Premier-designate
UPDATED
Another formal step in the transition to a Tory government was completed yesterday.
Tim Houston, leader of the Progressive Conservatives, visited Government House to ask the Lieutenant Governor’s permission to form a new government.
The formal request followed a visit the day before by Premier Rankin who advised the Vice Regal that he was resigning as premier.
Though a long-standing formality, the premier and cabinet of the outgoing government retain their authority to govern until the next premier and cabinet are sworn in by the lieutenant-governor. That swearing in ceremony is set for Tuesday, August 31st.
In the meantime, Tim Houston is officially known as the Premier-designate.
Houston will be a guest on Morning Talk next week.
