Trio de Deux WOWS Them in Pugwash
WOW and more WOW, that’s what people were saying after a tiny concert at Hope Centre in Pugwash yesterday.
The Chris Brown Trio held a recording session at Six Rivers Radio and the small studio audience adored it.
The trio consists of Chris Brown, Joe Topper and a ?
Chris is the songwriter, guitarist and singer, while Joe manhandles a big stand-up base with loving care.
They opened with a string of personal songs and tossed in a dash of covers, but spiced with an individual flair more like a flare, that is the hallmark of the trio.
The recording sessions are under the direction of Barry Patriquin of Oxford, who is no slouch when it comes to music. Booking Chris Brown proves it is true that it takes one to know one.
Patriquin, guitar and voice, was accompanied by Kaden Mattinson on base — and any other instrument you place in front of him — and Glenn Theriault on drums.
Chris invited the three to join him in the final crescendo, with Patriquin taking the lead. That produced the second standing ovation of the afternoon, something you rarely see at a house-party style concert.
Hope Centre is hosting these Tiny Gigs on a monthly basis with the next in planning for mid April.
