Truck Tangles with the Phone Company
An Armour delivery truck found itself tangled with a telephone wire in Pugwash today. The truck caught a low hanging wire on Black Street about 11:30 this morning.
The driver noticed the line as it caught the body of the trailer, and stopped immediately. The phone line, leading to a home, fell to the road, dangly from a telephone pole.
There was no immediate danger, unlike what might have happened had the truck caught an electrical wire.
The unidentified driver said, "My truck is legal height. The wire was too low." In fact, on inspection of the scene, the power line was also low and in danger of hooking any similar height of vehicle. Given the construction vehicles working on the village's new water system, the low wires may pose a threat.
The driver tried to find the owner of the house affected by the service outage, but it appeared nobody was home. He called the phone company to report the downed line and he was also going to call Nova Scotia Power to suggest their line needed attention.
