Vegetable Stand Stands Alone
The latest addition to the Pugwash business scene is a vegetable stand across from the Farmers' Market. What is unusual is the open store is unattended.
Alder Meadow Farm is operated by Janet and Marty Rose of Linden, where they continue to operate their first stand alone farm store.
The kiosk style store is located between the Pugwash Florist Shop and the Baptist church. It is stocked daily with fresh vegetables and seasonal items like the current fresh strawberries. Customers are invited to serve themselves and complete their transactions on the "honour system."
The farm store is open every day from 8 am till dusk.
Rose, who has tended a stall at the Farmers's Market for years, will continue in that Saturday activity. She says the new vegetable stand simply offers her customers the same kind of produce throughout the rest of the week.
In the photo, Marty Rose puts the final touches to his new farm store, now open on Durham Street in Pugwash.
