Voters Go to the Polls Today in Oxford
It is election day in Oxford, as four candidates are hoping for your vote in a special by-election for a seat on town council.
Dave Clark, George Longard, Arnold MacDonald, and Krystal Rushton are running for the seat left vacant when Greg Wood resigned for personal reasons.
Two polls are open to all qualified voters in the town. Both polls are located at the firehall, open from 9 am to 7 pm.
By-elections often produce an angry or protest vote, but that has not been the case in this election. All the candidates seem to feel the town council his doing a decent job of managing the town’s affairs and tax spending.
While issues do not set them apart, gender might. There are currently four males and two females, including Mayor Trish Stewart.
The good news is that the candidates agree that the town is in good shape. Perhaps that explains the extra interest in this by-election. The four candidates want to get on the bandwagon. Unfortunately, there is only room for one.
