Woman Arrested for Moncton Truck Theft
Cumberland RCMP arrested a Moncton woman following the theft of a truck and trailer.
Police were called to the Trans Canada Highway near Upper Nappan following reports of a truck and trailer travelling erratically early Tuesday morning.
Local RCMP tried to stop the vehicle but the driver sped away. Following high speed protocol, the officers abandoned the chase.
Followup investigation revealed the truck and trailer had been stolen earlier that morning from Elmwood Drive in the New Brunswick city.
About an hour later, RCMP, Cumberland County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, and RCMP Air Services located the pick-up truck and trailer, abandoned in Westchester Valley.
An RCMP Police Dog tracked the driver and located her in a wooded area near where the truck and trailer were found.
The woman was arrested for flight from police, theft of a motor vehicle, and possession of property obtained by crime.
The 33-year old woman was held in custody then turned over to New Brunswick RCMP.
The truck and trailer were returned to the rightful owner in New Brunswick.
