Yacht Club Wants to Dredge Pugwash Harbour
The new Commodore of the Pugwash Yacht Club says the organization can no longer wait for the much anticipated Waterfront Masterplan. Debbie Cameron says dredging is needed now and the club is taking steps to get it done.
Speaking on Morning Talk yesterday, the commodore noted that harbour dredging has become critical. Cameron said one sailboat got stuck in the mud last season and the situation grows worse with each passing year.
The community has been waiting for the waterfront development plan which would see dramatic change in the harbour, but that plan is still years away.
Cameron says the yacht club is working with various levels of government to try and take some smaller steps right away, steps that would be consistent with that masterplan.
Those steps include dredging, the provision of drinking water for pleasure-craft, and a walkway linking the yacht club to the bridge and the boardwalk in Eaton Park.
