Staff Reporter / Friday, March 31, 2017 / Categories: News Youth Arrested with Fake Guns Lunenburg District RCMP arrested a gun toting teen yesterday at a Bridgewater area Walmart. Police were called to the Cookville Walmart on fears the young man had multiple weapons. A number of police officers responded and took an 18 year-old male into custody inside the store. A search revealed the man was carrying two replica handguns and two knives, which were seized. "What's troubling about incidents like this is that replica guns look very realistic and our officers are required to make decisions when responding in fractions of a second," says Sgt. Mark MacPherson, Lunenburg District RCMP. "Thankfully we were able to arrest the individual without incident." The sergeant added, "We want to remind citizens about the dangers associated with replica hand guns. In instances like this, we have to treat them as real weapons." The 18 year-old from Brier Island Nova Scotia has been released from police custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 3rd to face a charge of Possessing a Weapon Dangerous to the Public.
