Youth Gather for Zoom Talk on Local Tragedy
A local church youth group is hosting a special online session Saturday evening to hold what they describe as “an open and honest discussion about the events of last weekend.”
Provincial officials are concerned over the emotional impact of such horrendous events and have begun promoting free access to emotional supports and mental health services, especially the Kids Help Line.
The Oxford Nazarene Youth Group, perhaps the largest youth initiative in the region, is holding a special Zoom meeting and inviting interested teens from near and far.
Participants will meet Stacie McKay, a special guest from Texas. McKay was a youth leader in Littleton, Colorado at the time of the shootings at Columbine High School, and she will share her experience and how that tragedy has things in common with the recent events here.
The local youth leader, Tyler Hobbs, will moderate the discussion, working through the emotional minefield of the recent community events.
